Dirtybird are on a serious role this year with a slew of impressive releases. Hot after releasing their Hatched Vol. 1 compilation, EPs from French Fries and Shadow Child, plus a single from boss, Claude VonStroke, they are back with another massive record, Justin Martin’s LP, ‘Ghettos & Gardens.’

It has been seven years since Martin’s first release with Dirtybird and his latest work shows his progression as an artist. You can hear the sunshine of San Francisco, as well as his musical influences ranging from E-40 to LTJ Bukem, coming through in the tracks. He moves through different tempos, and like the album title suggests, contrasting moods, rendered by great vocal samples and big basslines. Fun, original, and unique to his own sound, ‘Ghettos & Gardens’ is one of my favourite albums of the year.
