Get Some Records are proud to present our second release, the Crypt EP. Essex based 19-year-old, Daniel Shell, also known to many as ‘Crypt‘ has been a music fan since before he can remember. First producing Grime and Dubstep fueled by the various vinyls and CD’s found in his Dad’s music collection. Now influenced by the sounds of Zomby, Burial, Falty DL, Sepalcure and many he produces tracks with a garage house fusion combined with deep basslines and dark haunting vocals. As a label, we’re excited to be able to put out a proper Garage record and for a producer so young to make something this accomplished sop early in their career, bodes very well for the future.

I expect you will have heard these already, such is the speed at which things move these days. But if you’ve been lying under a rock for the past 24 hours, last night Kode 9 previewed two tracks from Burial’s forthcoming Hyperdub release. Still Burial, still relevant.
Sample releases from the forthcoming EPs of James Blake and Jamie Woon, give us a glimpse of what we might expect from their début full length albums.
Woon teams up with a more house-oriented Burial for Night Air, a previous collaboration on Wayfaring Stranger being a staple of my record bag. The Ramadanman remix does the original more than justice.
James Blake’s cover of Feist and Chilly Gonzales’Limit to Your Love is something different altogether. Blake sings the vocal himself, rather than sampling, combining his signature keys with a dread half-time beat reminiscent of a Mala production. HEAVY.
Ending a 14 year legacy MAH, celebrated in true pioneer style with a send off show featuring two of the biggest artists in Dubstep. Burial and Kode 9 drop a send off mix to remember featuring heavy basslines and reminiscent vocals from the Old Skool.

Some very nice new bits from Blue Daisy featuring vocals form Anneka. I really like this stuff, Massive Attack meets Aphex twin, meets Burial, or something like that… Blue Daisy is one to watch, or has been for just over a year, his progress as producer has been remarkable, carving out a sound of his own whilst somehow maintaining a connection with the London bass scene. Every time this guy pops up on my Soundcloud dashboard I listen to his stuff, every time without fail. He really sounds like no one else at the moment. Hope you like it as much as I do.
‘I’M ON A UK FUNKY TING’… So, Kode 9 has dropped, or is dropping something new, and it is NOT what I was expecting. This track popped up on my Soundcloud Dashboard, uploaded by K7 Records, and I really don’t know what I think. It’s sort of ok, sort of standard, sort of not. Is this the future for Kode 9 or a one off? Only time will tell… It is labelled as ‘UK Funky, Tropical, Dubstep’, yet another Sub Genre to contend with (haha), and is definitely moving away from the dark Burial sounds that this man pioneered. Have a listen.
It’s finally here, after 4/5 years (by my count anyway) Kieran Hebden, aka Four Tet, has finally released his new album, ‘There Is Love In You’. I saw him perform at Plastic people in 2007/08, to celebrate the release of his ‘Ringer EP’, which at the point was quite some change in direction. He moved away from his more experimental Electronica toward a deeper, more Techno influenced series of tracks. For me this was a very exciting change.
He has since collaborated with Burial, and allowed the prolific Joy Orbison to remix his latest single, ‘Love Cry’.
The question I was asking was, where next? Well This is where and from the quick listen I have given it, ‘There Is Love In You’ promises to be ever bit as amazing as his earlier works. Many producers are afraid of trying something new, changing direction, but Four Tet has and in my opinion he has done so successfully. This guy is genuinely one the greatest British musicians of our generation and slowly but surely he is being recognised as so.
