BODDIKA & JOY O – MERCY

Boddika Joy O Mercy

These Boddika and Joy O collabs are devastating, earlier on in the year we had Swims, which seemed to be on repeat at every Outlook Stage. Now this! Coming out some time on SWAMP81 (maybe.) Bob found this so credit to him.

FREDDIE GIBBS: COLD DAY IN HELL (FREE ABUM) + JOKER/JESSIE WARE COLLAB

Freddie Gibbs: Cold Day In Hell

Freddie Gibbs has dropped his highly anticipated new album, completely for free, through a collaboration with skate and graffiti clothing brand LRG. Fans won’t be disappointment, Gibbs hasn’t watered his style down at all, using a trusted combination of bangers and street stories. It’s that black heavy metal rap, with features from Young Jeezy and Dom Kennedy and beats from J.U.S.T.I.C.E League, Beatnick and K-Salaam amongst others. Cop that.

7EVEN RECORDINGS: FREE DOWNLOAD COMPILATION

Posted by RALPH

The Tokyo-based 7even Recordings imprint is one of only a handful of Japanese imprints devoted to bass music, having previously released remixes by the likes of Ramadanman and Untold. Now, 7even has just offered up a free “mini-compilation” of exclusive tunes from select members of its roster, including this glistening dancefloor burner from French artist F.

The talented bass wrangler matches punchy, high-octane dubstep riddims with swirls of squelching synths, percussive sound effects, and thick sub tones on “Mind the Gap.” Cop F’s jam here, and check out the rest of the free offering over on 7even’s Bandcamp, here.

SLAUGHTER MOB – UNDER THE RADAR

Slaughter Mob - Under The Radar

If you’ve ever seen an SLT set, and I’m going back a little way now, you’ll know that there’s nothing quite like Bandit and MC’s Vicious and Dangerous. Scene originators from the garage days, they were very much part of the early dubstep sound. ‘Splurt‘ is never out of my record bag. Held in such high esteem, it’s crazy to me that their LP literally slipped under the radar – no pun intended. But that seems to be what’s happened here. The album is split between big room dubstep – ‘Grapple,’ more unique SLT numbers – ‘Seductress‘ and then tracks referencing their garage background like ‘Rise‘ and ‘Emperor.’ Truly something for all tastes. The productions are versatile yet of a consistently high quality throughout. Let’s hope more people take notice of this LP and put SLT back where they belong at the top of dubstep. They could certainly show the current crop of ‘dubstep forerunners’ a thing or two.

GET SOME RECORDS – CRYPT (GSR001)

Crypt

Get Some Records are proud to present our second release, the Crypt EP. Essex based 19-year-old, Daniel Shell, also known to many as ‘Crypt‘ has been a music fan since before he can remember. First producing Grime and Dubstep fueled by the various vinyls and CD’s found in his Dad’s music collection. Now influenced by the sounds of Zomby, Burial, Falty DL, Sepalcure and many he produces tracks with a garage house fusion combined with deep basslines and dark haunting vocals. As a label, we’re excited to be able to put out a proper Garage record and for a producer so young to make something this accomplished sop early in their career, bodes very well for the future.

OLD APPARATUS – HAMMERHEAD FEAT. MOWGLI

OLD APPARATUS – HAMMERHEAD FEAT. MOWGLI

When I first heard this, picked up from one of Sam’s tweets last month I had to play it back about 10 times. Textured, melancholy, beats, ridden perfectly by Mowgli’s bars. Fittingly chosen by KMAG as there No.1 tune for August. This is out now on Mala’s Deep Medi imprint. You can buy it from here. I wouldn’t normally tell a reader to ‘buy now’ or describe something as ‘an essential purchase’ because that’s not what we do, I would say however, that this is the type of risk-taking label, which needs to be supported.

MARTYN — MASKS / VIPER

Posted by OUZO

If you ask me, Martyn is a don is this game and always will be, one of the most hypnotic and considered sets I have ever heard was when I saw him play at Deviation a few years ago. You didn’t need to be taking anything to get high to that. He has an evolving sound which, over the last 4 or 5 years, has spanned through most sub genres of bass music with his latest single seemingly a culmination of all of his previous work. ‘Viper‘ has got big crunchy cords reminiscent of early 2000′s D&B or early Distance sounding dubstep, all set upon a backdrop of spaced out rave sounds. The ‘London Arches Edit‘ is actually the better version of the two, a little more palatable and very ravey. ‘Masks‘ is an extension of the sounds form the album ‘Great Lengths‘, heavy 2-Step influenced, dancle floor house music. Good stuff, have a listen.

HEK013: PANGAEA – HEX / FATALIST

Posted by ELSEWHERE

It has just been announced that Pangaea is going to be dropping the next release on Hemlock with ‘Hex / Fatalist‘. The release channels the spirit of jungle and hardcore through murky dubstep atmospheres and snapping rhythms.  ‘Hex‘ also has one of the rudest basslines i have heard in a long time.

He may keep a low profile, but he is a producer not to be messed with.

This single is due to drop on 12th Sept.

EAGLES FOR HANDS

It’s been a long time coming, but we are delighted to finally be able to announce the first release under the Get Some Records label.

Producing under the name Eagles For Hands, Brighton based musician Laurie James Ross unconventionally hailed from an upbringing in Baroque and Classical music. His background in multi-instrumentation later evolved into a love of Math Rock and Electronica, and ultimately into various sub-genres of House, Dubstep, Glitch and Garage. Eagles For Hands’ self titled E.P will be his first release on Get Some Records.
