From Essex to Cali- young talent Lapalux has unleashed a sampler of his forthcoming EP “When You’re Gone” to be released on Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder label. The highly anticipated 7-track EP, packed full of warped and soulful electronic beats, dusty clicks & clacks, sweeping synthwork, and dreamy vocals (including those of singer Py who has previously collaborated with man like Throwing Snow), is out on 7th February. I can’t wait to get lost in the full EP. Listen to the taster here:
Edinburgh-based duo Blackwax have just released a new EP of dizzy 808 beats which I highly recommend. You can buy the Offkey EP, released on Tube10, from Juno- and listen to one of the tracks below. Blackwax will be playing in London next month for the next Liminal Sounds party with Randomer, Pedestrian, Palace, and a couple of us from GET SOME will be repping too – sign up for limited FREE guestlist here before it’s too late.
Zomby has unveiled a new track in anticipation of his forthcoming 7-track EP. The track Labrynth, which you can listen to below, is taken from the ‘Nothing‘ EP which will be released on 28th November on 4AD. Can’t wait to hear the rest.
To say Mosca is doing a lot right now would be an understatement. After dropping the killer double A side on Numbers (Done Me Wrong and Bax) earlier this month, he shifts direction to Martyn’s 3024 label, with four slick house tunes. With each release he sets a new standard and there seems no genre he can’t turn his hand to, delivering the goods every time. An immense talent. The Wavey EP is out on 7 November.
As well as this, in celebration of his reaching 5000 followers on twitter, he has given away these tracks for free here.
Deep, beautiful, production from man like Samoyed. Taken from his forthcoming EP out on the Astro:Dynamics label, which you can get from here amongst other places.
Some readers of the blog will be familiar with Liverpool’s Melé. It’s problem for all producers out there that he’s only 19 and already making tunes like these. Starlight Express certainly damaged a lot of dancefloors at Outlook Festival. But in all truth, every jam is on here is hot. The EP is out on Mixpak Records and can be bought from Juno. You can follow the kid on twitter here, and actually you should, he’s good value.
Following on from Bob’s earlier post about Ballistiq Beats and Delilah collaborating, I’d like to bring to everyone’s attention the offical video for the track. Let me level with you, I’m normally dubious of covers. I believe that you can’t just try and outdo the original, you have to approach it from a new direction. Not only does this tune do that, but it has the whole package. Great production, deep, but complementing rather than overpowering the vocal. Delilah looks great and the styling and production value of the video is high. A job well done. ‘Go’ is taken from her EP which you can buy from itunes here.
Well this was a nice surprise, new to me, but maybe not new to some of you guys is beat maker, Boombaptist. The dude is about to embark on a tour of the US West Coast. From the video it looks like the shows are a lot of fun. He definitely has his own style and is a producer we’ll be keeping our eyes on in the future. Big Up!
You can download The Creamixes EP from his Bandcamp page here.
Following on from Bob’s post of up and coming hip hop talent, check out Manchester’s Sparkz. As you would come to expect from an artist on Example Media’s roster, the lyrics are on point and the production is solid. To get his Back 2 Basics EP all you have to do is go to his Facebook page and hit ‘like.’
I first heard this joint on rapper Jams F Kennedy‘s mixtape for Earnest Endeavours (which you can download here). Now the track by Widows (Jams F Kennedy and Bobby Evans) called Orchid is available for free ahead of the forthcoming Widows EP release on Earnest Endeavours records. The percussion is mad good and Jams’s Southern rapping style kills it. Listen and download here:
And Londoners who fancy an off-carnival BBQ jam, make sure you get tickets to the Earnest Endeavours party on Sunday 28th August where the one and only Dante Fried Chicken will be cookin up a storm alongside a dose of the finest beats courtesy of Alex Nut & Fatima, The Blessings and a secret headliner. More info here y’all.
I cannot get enough of this release from Super recordings: a stunning EP featuring beatsmith Throwing Snow accompanied by the sweet vocals of singer Py, with an army of talented producers on remix duties including PhOtOmachine, Lapalux and the record label’s head honchoRaffertie. Listen to clips here:
Slick remix from Falty DL. This, as well as the original are available on Photek’sAviator EP. There’s lots of great tunes on there, well worth checking out. Worth a special mention as well is Pinch’s remix of Closer.
German duo JTRP return to the Deep Teknologi imprint with the Hynotise EP which sees the duo progress into much darker territory. One for the late night/early morning crew.
I’d like to think the inspiration for the track Ceddybu came from this guy.
Out to Sam for the heads up on this. Vezelay is a French electronic musician with a hypnotic debut EP entitled Lyre out now on Planet Mu Records. Listen to one of the tracks ‘Archetype’ below:
