We’ve been loving Jamie Grind’s music for a good year now, when he first passed us a promo of his track ‘Same Old Me’, all chopped RnB-ish vocals, garage inspired drum patterns and blissful synths. Yesterday Jamie gave away four unreleased cuts via his Facebook, (unofficially titled the SOPA/PIPA EP) and including the aforementioned ‘Same Old Me’ and two great tracks we hadn’t heard before: ‘Don’t Think’ and ‘Don’t Feel Right’. Go get!

If you haven’t heard of Detboi already, carry on reading; because he is undoubtedly one of the artists I have high hopes for this year. With a forthcoming EP on Deep Thrills there is already evidence of the Irish producer’s ability, and we can expect much, much more from him. The nine-track release, entitled ‘Darkside,’ shows variety ranging from 124BPM up to 140BPM, but the tracks individually keep the same simple bass weight that, together with chopped and sampled vocals, defines the producer at the moment. Stream the preview below.
Hotflush get off to a strong start in 2012 as they welcome Belgian newcomer Locked Groove to the fold. The title track is the pick for me, but all three tracks are the work of a promising new producer showcasing a deft amalgamation of deeper house, techno and garage influences. The EP is out on vinyl and digital on 16th Jan.

Joy Orbison has once again teamed up with designer Will Bankhead to start new label Hinge Finger. The pair, who worked together on previous imprint Doldrums, have typically not yet released many details of the new project. We do know any forthcoming releases will be distributed via Honest Jon’s, and going by the promo mix recently dropped by Joy Orbison we can presume the label’s focus will be on deep house and garage sounds. Hinge Finger is definitely one to follow closely in 2012.
You can stream and download Joy Orbison‘s promo mix here via The Trilogy Tapes.
Very strong release from Stavrogin on the increasingly well respected B.YRSLF Division. The EP spans a range of sounds, referencing moody garage with shades of Bass Clef and Groove Chronicles, as well as more half time influences heard on Run Down. The standout track for me though is the most upbeat on the EP, The Avenue VIP, which has wicked chopped vocals which help bring all the different elements of the track together.

To say Mosca is doing a lot right now would be an understatement. After dropping the killer double A side on Numbers (Done Me Wrong and Bax) earlier this month, he shifts direction to Martyn’s 3024 label, with four slick house tunes. With each release he sets a new standard and there seems no genre he can’t turn his hand to, delivering the goods every time. An immense talent. The Wavey EP is out on 7 November.
As well as this, in celebration of his reaching 5000 followers on twitter, he has given away these tracks for free here.
Get Some Records are proud to present our second release, the Crypt EP. Essex based 19-year-old, Daniel Shell, also known to many as ‘Crypt‘ has been a music fan since before he can remember. First producing Grime and Dubstep fueled by the various vinyls and CD’s found in his Dad’s music collection. Now influenced by the sounds of Zomby, Burial, Falty DL, Sepalcure and many he produces tracks with a garage house fusion combined with deep basslines and dark haunting vocals. As a label, we’re excited to be able to put out a proper Garage record and for a producer so young to make something this accomplished sop early in their career, bodes very well for the future.
