JAMIE GRIND — FOOTWORK EP

Posted by OUZO

This is the kind of Footwork I could get down to! Leeds based producer Jamie Grind has found a balance between the hectic, sometimes insane genre that took everyone by storm last year, and the more familiar 2-Step/House sound we are accustomed to hearing on a daily here in the UK and created a very tight EP. It was only a matter of time before the UK took Juke/Footwork and re-hashed it into something that fits with what are already doing here, there may be other examples of this that I am unaware of, but it seems to me that Jamie Grind is right on the money. Great stuff and something I am looking forward to hearing a lot more of. The ‘Footwork EP‘ also features Hackman on one of the tracks, ‘Saw The Light‘, which is a strong look. Is a new wave of UK Footwork producers just around the corner? Probably…

HACKMAN — MADE UP MY MIND / BAM BAM

Posted by OUZO

WOI!!!!! Bleated happy new year people. It’s been a hectic start to the year but I managed to finally get it going on Saturday night playing at The Secret Wars European Final at Village Underground, big crowd, big tunes, big vibe!

Everyone else has been doing a great job of delivering what you guys have come to expect so it has been even more difficult for me to think of something to post up but I think I have it! Hackman, a big player in 2010, has released a beautiful Deep House record, I’m a big fan of this guy and his sound. It continues the trend of rolling vocals added to the Deep House phenom that is being led T.Williams and Julio Bashmore. It is this sort of release that is going to split the scene further this year, Deep house/Funky/Tribal raves vs. a harder, darker return to the early DMZ years. Can’t freaking wait, you know which raves the ladies will be attending fo sho! Listen, enjoy. Peace.

The Phantom EP, Senseless Records

Hailing from Warsaw, Poland, 23 year old Bartosz Kruczynsk AKA The Phantom announces himself with this very, very heavy 6 track EP. Three stand alone tracks backed up with three more remixes from the likes of Brenmar, Hackman and Zeppy Zep. Big up Senseless Records on this one!

ELEVATOR MUSIC VOL.1

Posted by JASSET

Elevator Music launched at fabric earlier this month at the Numbers party. Their first compilation CD is released on the 8th February and features exclusive tracks from some of the most exiting players in the 140 bpm genre smashing bass music scene. I swear we should just call it 140 and be done with the whole ‘future tech-step psy-jungle funky wonk’ ridiculousness. Artists read like a who to watch for in 2010 list: Hot City, xxxy, Untold, Julio Bashmore and many, many more.

If you weren’t stoked enough, the minimix we featured at the start of the month is now available for DL.
