Following the super limited Sais (dub) 10″ that came out earlier in 2011, the always extraordinary Floating Points follows that goodness up with this fantastic original version and with it an audio-visual spectacular.
Blindingly good house track from the man like Greymatter. Out now on Wolf MUsic. Buy here. Quality video too, just make sure you watch it in full screen.

An album of Congolese music entitled Kinshasa One Two by DRC Music, a collective gathered by Damon Albarn, is released digitally by Warp Records on 3rd October 2011 with a CD/vinyl release to follow on 7th November, to benefit Oxfam.
Kinshasa One Two was made during 5 days of sessions in Kinshasa this summer when the DRC Music collective teamed up with the best of contemporary Congolese musicians and performers. The collective comprises the eclectic production talents of: T-E-E-D (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs), Dan The Automator, Jneiro Jarel, Richard Russell, Actress, Marc Antoine, Alwest, Remi Kabaka, Rodaidh McDonald and Kwes, with album artwork by Hardy Blechman and Aitor Throup.
Sam aka Liminal Sounds is a talented producer, puts on dope parties, and runs a decent blog.To check out more of his Liminal Sounds project, check it out over here.
Slick remix from Falty DL. This, as well as the original are available on Photek’sAviator EP. There’s lots of great tunes on there, well worth checking out. Worth a special mention as well is Pinch’s remix of Closer.
Something a little different for you here. A 13 track free LP from emerging artists. The mixtape includes buzz bands such as Gardens & Villa, Headless Horseman, Mean Lady and Mayer Hawthorne. Check out Young and High, there’s some really good stuff on there.
It seems a long time ago that we interviewedKashmir Kid. So I was really happy when he sent us this new project he’s been working on. I understand the concept to be like a musical sketchbook for his ideas, allowing him the freedom to span many genres and moods of music. Here is his own description…
“BACK IN 4023 is the new beat tape from Kashmir Kid. Inspired by a twelve month period of travel through the sprawling landscapes of a distant yet familiar future. Contributions are made by characters along the way as their stories of a forgotten past are heard.
(vocals are translated into 21st century English for your enjoyment)”
Not only does the tape show Kash’s versatility and technical skill as a producer, more crucially than that, his tracks have soul and atmosphere. Believe me when I say this is some of the best music I’ve heard in a long time.
Two fresh cuts from the Pictures Music collective out today. Berlin based producer Seams follows up his highly regarded Tourist EP, with a more up-tempo vibe. Really tight percussion helps drive the tracks.
Bristol’s Baobinga has released a full length album on his own Build imprint. The album is, bar one track, a collaborative project with a pretty extensive list of UK producers, including Ginz, Hyetal, Guido, Jack Sparrow, Gemmy, Kowton, Mensah, Untold, Roska – you get my drift.
This mix will give you an idea of the inspiration behind the project.
Pictures Music have released two free tracks from new kid on the block, Dauwd, as a prelude to a vinyl release coming later in the Summer. Meditative rather than dance floor, the space and timing on these tracks, especially Shimmer, is refreshing to hear. A little bird tells me the scout for this was none other than my old mate, ultimate frisbee globetrotter and car modification enthusiast Andy Skinner. Well I never…
Heating up the dance with some serious vibes, the Reggae Roast crew have dropped their latest dubplate, this time from Earl 16. The 4 track EP is backed up with dub and dubstep remixes from Manasseh and Mungo’s Hi-Fi respectively. Support from David Rodigan and Don Letts, tips this to be a hot favourite for Summer.
