I don’t know much about who/what Strange Universe is/are, but this track featuring Shadow Star Boxer and produced by Om Unit (pictured above) is dope. The retro futuristic video below is well worth checking out in and of itself. They have some more cool videos up on their youtube channel here.
DOPE new mix by Kidkanevil exclusively for Sonar music festival, check it out here. Also make sure you get yourself down to the Nihon Kizuna London Release party that he is hosting in London on 20th April, with beats on the night provided by Slugabed, Om Unit, Blue Daisy, Throwing Snow, Danny Drive Thru and of course the host himself- this is a free event in aid of Japan, more details here.
Hi homies. So this is my virgin post for GET SOME! I’ll start by spreading the word about this compilation raising money for the Japan Red Cross.
Nihon Kizuna is a music compilation in aid of the Japan disaster relief effort. In just under a week they have already raised over $15,000, and are aiming to get to $20,000 – when they reach that target they will give away a free compilation. Some of my favourite beatmakers are involved in this project, with tracks from BD1982, Kode9, Kidkanevil, Om Unit, Paul White, Illum Sphere, Slugabed, Throwing Snow…dope.
Elevator Music launched at fabric earlier this month at the Numbers party. Their first compilation CD is released on the 8th February and features exclusive tracks from some of the most exiting players in the 140 bpm genre smashing bass music scene. I swear we should just call it 140 and be done with the whole ‘future tech-step psy-jungle funky wonk’ ridiculousness. Artists read like a who to watch for in 2010 list: Hot City, xxxy, Untold, Julio Bashmore and many, many more.
