The ever-impeccable Magic Wire imprint returns with another great release from Neon Jung. The original is a kaleidoscopic slice of rave-kissed bumpin’ brilliance, while on the flip the label tap up Nathan Fake for a remix who turns in a dope otherworldly take on the original laying out the loose 2-step rhythm in a dense fog of hazy synths. Pick it up on vinyl and digital from 20th Feb.
Unknown To The Unknown has released records by some of the scene’s hottest producers at the moment including Nightwave, Slackk, Dubbel Dutch, Nguzunguzu and more. The label’s latest offering is a dark and stripped back garage-meets-eski production from man like Palace. Check out the awesome video below:
We don’t normally post events unless one of us is playing, we leave that to our friends at InFormed London but this is an exception. Launching Friday 4th February, Stop.Drop.Roll is new night for London bassheads at Dalston club, The Nest. Setting the bar very high with their first line-up, we have two guest list places to give away for you and a mate, plus some drinks. All you have to do is answer the the question:
What garage crew was Ms Dynamite part of before going solo?
Answers to jasset[at]getsomeuk.com before noon on Friday.
My older cousins never tire of telling me that today’s ‘warehouse parties’ are an overpriced mockery of the raves they went to as teenagers. I suspect I’m not alone on this one. Piecing together the fragments of their ecstasy tainted tales, I reckon those parties would have looked something like this. BOSS VIDEO.
Shortly after posting one of Duffstep’s latest tracks it came to light that he also has a very solid mix doing the rounds in the shape of a podcast for San Francisco’s Big Up magazine. Featuring tracks from the likes of Lone, Pariah, Falty DL and many more Duffstep’s mix more than adequately shines a light on the steppy tech future sounds of now. Particularly tickling me sweet is the inclusion of ‘Pineapple Crush’ by Lone. Solidly referencing the first era of rave with it’s acid splashes and hip-house tinges ‘Pineapple Crush’ sits in this mix like it’s zesty name suggests it might – up front and attention seeking.
Definitely liking where this guy is heading with his sounds. Check this out, “Can’t give you love” is his latest Soundcloud offering and to date remains unsigned (not for long I imagine). With a slightly tougher edge than some of his more mellow peers on the techno-edged evolutionary path of Dubstep, you can almost feel the main room sweat dripping off this one. Close your eyes and pump it up. Trust me. This one’s got more Jack than the White Stripes.
OK, so, ideally I would have a direct link to the track in question, but I searched the web high and low to no avail. I even tried uploading the mix from which I first heard this, but that didn’t work either. I have no other choice but to suggest you go direct to the same source I did. It’s worth it. If you are in anyway unfamiliar with the ridiculously solid body of work by 808 State then you’ll be doing yourself a favour anyway. But, as this post is generally about one specific track I have to insist that you skip through to Track 26 (starts coming in to the mix at about 51:12) in Dunfyboy’s 808 State Mix. I’m talking about a serious remix of an already serious rave anthem; Cubik. Widely recognised for it’s distinctive cascading synth stabs, the original tore up warehouses and dancefloors the world over when it was originally released as a B-side to one of 808 State’s singles. A few years later Jon Carter gave it the Monkey Mafia treatment and released, what you will hear, sounds not too dissimilar to the vibe in some of The Bug’s work from a few years back. Heavy ragga undertones with punchy, aggressive programming that wouldn’t sound out of place in some of the tougher edge Funky sets I’ve heard of late.
If you have any trouble finding it, it’s the track directly after MC Tunes ‘The only rhyme that bites’, and if you don’t know that then here it is for your guidance…
PS Dunfyboy has a lot of other decent genre and artist specific mixes that are worth some serious ear time. Check it out.
Dunfy: If you’re listening mate, can you hit us with some Soundcloud love

Our first fifty party goers will receive a free copy of Greymatter’s CD LP, incentive if more were need to get down early!
PARIAH (R&S/Black Acre)
Blurring the lines between house, techno and garage, Pariah immediately grabbed listeners’ attention with some excellent remix work for Ellie Goulding and The XX. These have been followed up with a debut 12″ release (Detroit Falls) on legendary dance music label R&S records. Demand for this kid has soared, securing him sets across the UK and as far afield as Amsterdam and the Netherlands. His Sonic Router mix (http://fairtilizer.com/track/81775) encompassed what we are all about, upfront new sounds alongside club classics.
R1 RYDERS
Since dropping their debut EP Burnout last year DJ/Producer Karnak and MC Skeelo have been tearing up show after show. On the 17th April, Get Some returns home to the The Gramaphone with a card stacked full of talent.
Tipped by Fact Magazine as one of their producers to watch for 2010, Mosca (www.myspace.com/deejaymosca) is leaving no stone unturned this year. When not working on Bruk Magazine (www.brukmagazine.wordpress.com) with Unknown Soulja, or promoting their club night U Dun Know, he’s busy in the lab cooking up beats. Super fresh production, genre smashing club music. Square One is out now on Night Slugs.
With remixes under their belts for Hot Chip and Gorillaz, a pioneering 3D rave night, a radio show and a record label, Dancing Robot (http://www.dancingrobotmusic.co.uk) look set to stop at nothing but world domination. Their live shows are pure hype and the lads’ sets at packed out Coronet and Koko are sights to behold.
Badboy Rinse FM DJ’s Elijah and Skilliam have been rocking out shows across Europe with the toughest grime and dubstep sets. It can’t be overstated how much they do for the scene with their Butterz blog (http://verybutterz.blogspot.com/) pushing the sound far and wide. And with a record label on the way, the levels continues to be kept high. Dubplate pressure not to be missed.
As per, resident Get Some selectors will keep you niced up all night with the right blend of old and new. Stick it in your diary.
