Thought of by many as a lost grime classic ‘Mind The Gap’ was originally supposed to come out on the mighty A.R.M.Y imprint back in the day but fate consigned it to a dusty archive, until now that is that the fab Senseless label have stepped up and given it a full proper release featuring a leviathan array of remixes from the likes of Spooky, Sarantis and more! Check out the mini mix below and buy yourself a copy come February 20th.
Other grear MCs on the mixtape include Trim, Wretch32 and Scrufizzer.
…And it also features for the first time on a track (to my knowledge anyway) one of my personally most anticipated grime MCs of 2011, Elro (check his warmup session on SBTV out here – wait till Wiley’s Gangsters instrumental drops – trust me, it’s good)
To download the mixtape, get the Skinner Scanner app here, then go to your local and scan a tin of Heinz Baked Beanz!

Katy B has taken the UK by storm with her new release, ‘Louder‘, so it is only fair that we say well done to Katy, Geeneus and the whole Rinse family, you SMASHED IT! I like ‘Louder’ as a track, not so keen on the Roska remix, but it is the flip side to this record that does it for me ‘Katy On A Mission‘ (as posted by J Money in July) but the strongest of the Katy B arsenal has to be the Geeneus record, ‘As I‘. Big riddim last year, still one of the strongest funky records about in my opinion. You have probably heard all of these tunes before (definitely in fact) but I personally wanted to pay my respects to the people we have watched come up finally blow! BIG UP.
For the past 3 years, Scotland’s finest export Hudson Mohawke has been casually stringing together the smoothest slow jams for you for valentines day. When I heard the first instalment of this mix series I listened to almost nothing else for a whole summer. You can get the first two over at LuckyMe, and although it’s a day late (Hudson had some computer issues) chapter 3 is out now. Hot!
As a bonus, on the love tip, Roska’s track “Love Tonight” is getting a lot of play with me too, so head over to Fader to check it out. It’s a fragile UKF track that burrows its way under your skin, with vocals from Roska’s mate Jamie George. Forthcoming on Rinse.
