There’s prizes for best dressed and they’ve also promised Bendy girls, flying wenches and fire wielding maidens will be bringing the Halloween Carnival back to life… Lord knows, I love a flying wench!
As a little follow up to SSG‘s farewell to Mary Anne Hobbs, she has also made a website with some thank you’s and a really cool PDF of an email that Apex twin (aka Richard D James) sent to her in 1999. Pretty cool. Here’s the email and this is the website: http://www.maryannehobbs.com/.
This Sunday, Monorex have kindly offered up a room at ONE OF TEN at The Queen Of Hoxton. If you are free, come have some drinks and get involved with us as we deliver our usual mix of UK Bass, underground classics, dancefloor bangers and more. We are proud to welcome Tunetourist and pictures music to the fold who I am sure you will be hearing a lot more of in the next few months. If you haven’t GOT SOME before, come and GET SOME this Sunday…

On the 17th April, Get Some returns home to the The Gramaphone with a card stacked full of talent.
Tipped by Fact Magazine as one of their producers to watch for 2010, Mosca (www.myspace.com/deejaymosca) is leaving no stone unturned this year. When not working on Bruk Magazine (www.brukmagazine.wordpress.com) with Unknown Soulja, or promoting their club night U Dun Know, he’s busy in the lab cooking up beats. Super fresh production, genre smashing club music. Square One is out now on Night Slugs.
With remixes under their belts for Hot Chip and Gorillaz, a pioneering 3D rave night, a radio show and a record label, Dancing Robot (http://www.dancingrobotmusic.co.uk) look set to stop at nothing but world domination. Their live shows are pure hype and the lads’ sets at packed out Coronet and Koko are sights to behold.
Badboy Rinse FM DJ’s Elijah and Skilliam have been rocking out shows across Europe with the toughest grime and dubstep sets. It can’t be overstated how much they do for the scene with their Butterz blog (http://verybutterz.blogspot.com/) pushing the sound far and wide. And with a record label on the way, the levels continues to be kept high. Dubplate pressure not to be missed.
As per, resident Get Some selectors will keep you niced up all night with the right blend of old and new. Stick it in your diary.
5 POUND ALL NIGHT

It’s here and it looks BIG! This is what you need to know…
After the success of our launch party at the Gramaphone in October, GET SOME moves to The Book Club in Shoreditch for the follow up. For our Christmas spesh, headlining are some of the most exciting DJs in Lond…on – GREENA (www.myspace.com/ukgreena) and EXEL & ISHU. The Book Club (http://www.wearetbc.com) is a new venue in Shoreditch, offering art, film, food, drinking and dancing over two floors with excellent lighting and sound.
GREENA’s mixes represent so much of what is great about UK underground music past and present. Full of energy his sets incorporate Grime, 2-Step, Baltimore, Funky, Hip-Hop and Dubstep and always technically on point. Check the Fact magazine mix [http://www.sendspace.com/file/w280dx]
EXEL & ISHU are two artists from the Reggae Roast collective. Regularly rocking out parties across London and abroad the duo stand for positive vibes as they lay down pure fire sets of Dubstep, Reggae and Dancehall. Watch out for forthcoming Reggae Roast releases: Exel & Moodie Reggae Roast Mix Cd ‘Roots Uprising’ Coming out on December 14th, Exel produced ‘Willing & Able’ released on October 12th – Getting plays from Rodigan on Kiss.
Supporting our headliners will be residents SSG (http://soundcloud.com/ssgssg), Dark Arx (http://www.myspace.com/darkarx), Whiskey & Ouzo (www.getsomeuk.com) laying down an eclectic mix of UKG//DUBSTEP//GRIME//HOUSE//FUNKY//TECH.
It is here!!!! Thanks to everyone who represented at GET SOME 001, it is because of you that we are able to announce that we have arranged 002. Check back in the next couple of days for information on the line up, but the GET SOME DJ’s, WHISKEY & OUZO, plus resident SSG, Princess of Wales (P.O.W.) and Dark ARX will be reppin’ in full force.
We have also moved to The Book Club which is a new venue in Shoreditch (which we have already played at and can vouch for) and we are really looking forward to bringing the GET SOME sound and vibe too.
The line up is looking tasty and, as always, we will be bringing you interviews and mixes from all of the artists. So come on down for another night to remember and don’t forget… TELL A FRIEND, TO TELL A FRIEND, TO TELL A FRIEND… GET SOME!!!!
Here it is, interview number one with SSG. As well as answering our questions he was kind enough to give us a taster of what to expect on the night – HYPE!
Name(s):
SSGSSG
Where are you from? Where do you live now?
Originally from South America, Colombia I’ve been based in London for a while now.
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m usually the person backstage helping the artists set-up or shift equipment. I also do some music features for a few magazines.
What was the first record you bought?
Blur and Prodigy albums – I think it made sense at the time, and still does now. I’ll try and ignore The Cardigans cassette album hastily purchased during a trip to a remote island off Morocco.
Who influenced your musical career?
Mostly it comes from teenaged bloggers posting tracks ripped from podcasts or online radio. Before the internet was what it is in 2009 I was influenced by the writers, magazines, TV and pirate radio. I try not to pay attention to artists themselves their I’d rather they get on with making more music.
Who are your influences now? (not necessarily musicians)
A&R, indie record labels etc -they help me know what’s good out there and influence people with something dynamic and exciting rather than another self hyped nobody.
If you could be anywhere, doing anything in the next 12 months, what would it be?
How about joining Major Lazer on his battle against the zombies?
