GET SOME ROOTS — SKREAM – HITCH

A little played (little known?) Skream number from a few years back, still a favourite of mine and perfect for a grey afternoon in London.

HORSEPOWER ARE BACK. They have just released their new album ‘Quest For The Sonic Bounty‘ displaying some major sounds, some more familiar than others. The track that will get played on radio and probably propel this group of legends is the track with Katy B, a refix of the groups groundbreaking ‘Classic Deluxe‘. I haven’t had enough time to give this a proper listen but my early reactions are that I am going to like it. It’s a bit darker than the more housey stuff around at the moment, not a bad thing if you ask me, but most importantly it evokes the original sounds that were being played at FWD>> all those years ago and gives me that warm feeling of nostalgia. I am definitely a fan. have a listen.

You can’t seem to open a newspaper or watch the TV, without seeing an info-graphic at the moment. I recently came across this poster which I’m guessing was included with Tempa’s Roots of Dubstep Compilations. You might look at the sound some of these artists are pushing now, and question where they’ve been placed or who they’ve been linked to, but if you rewind back to ’06, I think most of them match up. The credits are on the on the other side, so we can’t see them, but like most of Ammunition/Tempa/FWD/Rinse work, I’m guessing they’re the work of Give Up Art.
