It has just been announced that Pangaea is going to be dropping the next release on Hemlock with ‘Hex / Fatalist‘. The release channels the spirit of jungle and hardcore through murky dubstep atmospheres and snapping rhythms. ‘Hex‘ also has one of the rudest basslines i have heard in a long time.
He may keep a low profile, but he is a producer not to be messed with.
Bristol’s Baobinga has released a full length album on his own Build imprint. The album is, bar one track, a collaborative project with a pretty extensive list of UK producers, including Ginz, Hyetal, Guido, Jack Sparrow, Gemmy, Kowton, Mensah, Untold, Roska – you get my drift.
This mix will give you an idea of the inspiration behind the project.
Out on R&S, Untold has stepped it up with a serious Detroit inspired Techno double! Late night business on this one I think, probably hear it on the next Dark Arx podcast. This release is at the opposite end of the spectrum to the record he recently collaborated on with Roska but in my opinion, that is a good thing. I was talking to Kashmir Kid yesterday about the versatility of producers and how many producers never get to release the stuff they are into or making but doesn’t fit their profile. Untold seems to be bucking this trend with real versatility within’ his records. If you go back through his catalogue of releases you will find a real journey of sounds and music, one which hasn’t been hindered by being pigeon holed in to one genre of music. I am very up for this, shame there aren’t more producers doing the same. Check it out.
As a big weekend of Halloween parties looms large, tuck into this cracking mix from Lawson Bee. Heaps of good stuff here, including a few of his own bits. Tasty.

Well, not actually a Myth, that’s the name of the record. I have been quiet recently so apologies for my silence, I am expected my first baby so I have an excuse! When I read about this I really wasn’t sure, I mean talk about opposing sounds. Untold has undoubtedly made some corkers and is one of those guys who’s records I buy regardless as it seems as though on first listen I hate them but eventually the odd track will get me! Roska, on the other hand, has been consistently producing FIRE in 2010, and 2009, and before that. So, my conclusion is, you’ll either love this EP, out on the devastating Numbers label, or hate it. ‘Myth’ is a bit of a filler but in the right set could be huge. The flip, ‘Long Range‘, is much more me, it builds nicely and drops tough. I can see this in a future set fo sho!!!! Have a listen people. Also, I thought it necessary to include an Untold and Roska track from the past to give some context.
Dark Sky are three young producers from London who weave together the sounds of dubstep and garage into deep, hazy club music. The boys offer up the first in a series of Dark Sky mixes, featuring tracks from Scuba, Pangea and Ramadanman as well as their tracks ‘Leave’ and ‘Drowned City’ due out as part of an EP on fledgling label Pictures later this year. Also this year, Dark Sky will release their debut single on Bristol’s Black Acre label, featuring the tracks ‘Ghost Notes’ and ‘Something 2 Lose’. AND their incredible remix of The xx’s ‘Crystalised’ is dropped into this mix for the very first time. Don’t sleep on this one.
Elevator Music launched at fabric earlier this month at the Numbers party. Their first compilation CD is released on the 8th February and features exclusive tracks from some of the most exiting players in the 140 bpm genre smashing bass music scene. I swear we should just call it 140 and be done with the whole ‘future tech-step psy-jungle funky wonk’ ridiculousness. Artists read like a who to watch for in 2010 list: Hot City, xxxy, Untold, Julio Bashmore and many, many more.
Having been tipped by FACT magazine as one to watch for 2010, Julio Bashmore teams up with Vice to bring them an exclusive mix.
Kicking off with two massive tracks from Deadboy, it also features songs by Julio himself, Blackjoy and L-Vis 1990. Oh, and its got one of my favourite tracks from last year, Mosca’s “Gold Bricks, I See You”.
A great mix, definitely worth a listen. I was blown away at the back end of last year when London based producer Greymatter dropped his ‘When I Was Lost / Grot’ EP, and have been loving his work ever since. Expect big things in 2010, and who knows, maybe more of Greymatter here on GET SOME…? Look out for his forthcoming Album, ‘Mind Over Matter’, due to be released at the back end of next month.
