On the day his Rinse CD drops, we thought we’d share some of the jungle legend, Uncle Dugs‘, favourite YouTube clips and tracks with you. The selection spans Rodigan, DJ EZ, Booker T, MJ Cole, and that famous London jungle documentary. Enjoy.. and go and buy his mix CD here.

1. Booker T and The MG’s – Green Onions.

“this tune has been the intro for my show for many years now but it has really become a firm favourite with the rinse fm #rcff listeners who really took it to there hearts.. it was actually my brother Jono’s idea to use it so i cant even take credit for that but since i introduced it a few years back it has stuck with me and will do now forever..”

2. Alex Reece – Pulp Fiction.

“probably the tune i play more than any other in my bag and has been for years now.. featured on the rinse20 mix (of course it is, it had to be) and in most recordings you will ever hear of me from raves.. the definition of simple but effective.. salute to alex reece and metalheadz for a real piece of musical art.”

3. DJ EZ Live From Ram At Matter.

“my joint favourite dj to watch perform (2nd dj coming next in my top 10),, this is one of a few clips on youtube that showcase why he is such an amazing dj.. there isn’t many djs that i actually rate if im honest as most are pretty similair but EZ is in a league of his own and in turn is worth every penny of the ticket you pay to see him.. fast forward to 2 mins 25 and watch a legend at work..”

4. Sir David Rodigan Live.

“there is bundles of clips and sets of sir david rodigan floating around but there is something about this particular clip that keeps me going back time and time again.. if you haven’t guessed already Rodigan is my other joint favourite dj to watch perform and this little clip shows you why.. 100% dedication and energy in every single bit of his set.. When I grow up i wanna be david rodigan…!!”

5. Bugg Kann And The Plastic Jam – Made In 2 Minutes (Rave Mix).

“one of the first vinyls i ever bought as a dj with turntables, i loved this tune so much that i remember learning every word to it so i could belt it out at the top of my lungs when i was out raving haha.. a proper 91 banger…!!”

6. Bounty Killer And Beenie Man Clash At Sting 93.

“one of many wicked clashes on youtube but this one has to be my favourite of them all.. The vibes in the crowd for something like this must be amazing.. Sample upon sample for the Jungle producers back then…!!”

7. MJ Cole – Sincere.

“i went to see roni size doing the reprazent tour in 97 or 98 which on its own was amazing but the thing i really remember most about the whole night was mj cole as the warm up act performing this track live.. blew me away,, probably my favourite garage tune ever..”

8. A London Some’ting Dis.

“THE BEST jungle documentary of all time, made in late 1993 i do believe so it was literally put together as the jungle wave swept the UK. This was the first time for alot of us that we had actually got to see the people behind the music we loved so much. It seems second nature now to know everyones faces but back then it wasn’t that era so apart from being a great documentary that represented our own music it was a great reference to put names to faces.”

9.Nuyorican Soul – I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun (4 Hero Mix).

“a truly amazing remix from 4 hero, this tune has the ability to make me feel happy anytime im down,, if i close my eyes i could be on a beach miles away when this tune plays.. i heard it playing out of a tiny little beach bar in Ibiza in 2011, made my whole holiday..”

10. Massive Attack – Unfinished Sympathy (Paul Oakenfold Mix).

“loved this tune from the first time i ever heard it even though for years i actually thought it was called unfinished ‘symphony’ and not sympathy.. once in a while if the circumstances are right i draw this tune to finish my set with,, only on special occasions though.. this oakenfold mix differs very slightly from the original and just edges it for me..”
